Mavic components?

Can anyone direct me to a good information source for 90's Mavic components? I'm specifically looking for components for an early 90's bicycle. Was SSC the top-end stuff? What else was available? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try:

Look up the vintage parts section. SSC was the Mavic name for the group. They did not have a B line, but did change designs periodically

I have a later 80's Vitus that I'm slowly pushing toward complete mavichood. Just got a headset (had to buy a fork to get it...) and I'm still trying to buy some brakes.

http://www.velo-retro.com/mtline.html is nice general information. FirstFlight (http://www.firstflightbikes.com/Mavic.htm) has a detailed description of the parts that you're interested in, but no pictures.

I think you'll find that the brakes are Modolo, branded as Mavic. Don't think they ever made their own brakes. But I admire the components they *did* make alot, especially those hubs..they are silk!

Thanks for the info everyone. I have a 90s Lemond I'm trying to get together. I just picked up a Mavic Headset for $55 so I figured I'd do some research on the rest of the components. They seem pretty hard to find but a little easier to find than 90's Campy record stuff. Thanks again.

Hey Luker,
Are you using the Mavic floating bottom bracket? I just picked up an SSC crankset and am trying to figure out what BB to run with it. I'm not sure if I'm ready to remove threads in my frame's BB shell, and reface it just to run that Mavic BB...if I can even find one. I'm curious to know what crankset/BB you're using. Thanks!

p.s. You got any pics of your Vitus anywhere?

GVH Bikes has a full Mavic Gruppo listed on their website

Brave is the person wiling to find and have their BB beveled to accept that bottom bracket assy.

That crankset alway reminds me of a Star Trek spaceship model.

Indeed. I can't bear the thought of having my BB chamfered and threads removed. Thats why I'm looking for a different BB that'll work with these cranks.

Those are the brakes that I've lost out on several times on eBay...who makes those?
