Its gonna get a full teardown and rebuild. the Rear Brake cable is too short to actually be strung through the frame properly..lol but it seems like its mostly there..

Yup that is it. it was up for a couple weeks. and there was no takers on it. I figured i needed something more subdued from my other Ironman Expert .. a Miami Vice Expert.

It looks like the rear wheel is different from the picture .. hmm wonder what happened. although both wheels have GPX hubs..

nice price on that for sure! there was some discussion elsewhere that the "black" ironman had a different geometry: since you seem to have the same year miami vice version.. care to measure and find out?

I've not seen a black Ironman before. That is sure a short stem, too. The Suntour GPX is interesting as well.

I can do that, compare the 1987 Expert Miami Vice and the 1989 Expert frames. even better they are both 61cm

The GPX is original, although this one is missing the Brake levers :-( it looks like the Handlebars and stem have been changed out. i will change them out for a more fitting stem and Handlebars.

Hi guys, thought I'd pop up a photo of my 1990 Centurion Equalizer (serial M0E00085) and a request for help.

The bike was resprayed some years ago and I lost the decals. I have a very helpful local expert making a new set for me but we need a couple of things to complete the project. We need a close up and clear pic of the Equalizer logo on the top tube and measurements for all the decals before printing. Can anyone help me out please?

I'd take a bet that the logo sizes will be similar on other bikes of the same year, so if someone could be kind enough to measure another Centurion up, I'd appreciate it too.

Welcome to the forum. Never heard of the Equalizer but in Australia, the names were changed on most models.

Only advice I can offer is to contact JR Anderson at VeloCals. He's customized Ironman decals for me before, substituting other words for "Centurion." I doubt he can do much more than substitute "Equalizer" on some sort of top tube decal, and it may take a while, but he can do it. At the least, check the site out for examples of Centurion decals and decide if something he offers is close.

The Equalizer seemed like its own model, since it still had Shimano 105 components and in the US there wasn't a Centurion that had 105 since the 1988 Expert Ironman.

pretty interesting.. looked at some .au bike forums and saw that they had the "triathlon Master" which looks to be the same as the Dave Scott Ironman here. The Equalizer is also tange 1 so it might be the evolution of this into the 90s. pretty cool - we did not get that.

as for 105, some of the diamondback master tg's had 105.

Thanks for the interest and advice guys - much appreciated. My decal set is nearly ready and I'm really happy with the work the graphics artist has done for me so far.

Jetboy - I have those photos and they've been a huge help. Can't seem to get hold of the original poster tgcal though. Would love to have some clearer shots and measurements of the decals for the final print.

Yes, from what I've read the Equalizer was an Australian specific model.

fun math problem to figure out the size of the lettering: you just need the OD of the tube, then the percentage the letter takes up of one side. Then you can figure (%*.01)/2 * (d*pi)

Thanks. I dig the decals. The bike is right there, with the same style as the last decals I've seen of Tange 1.... the Vetta saddle could be OEM, as Avenir was on the US models, no reason not to have Vetta....looks like OEM seatpost. Winpista bars were on the Lemans and Elite, that's a nice mix of components.

I may have been on C&V too long, as the first thing I'd do is pull the brifters, toss on some 1055 brake levers and DT shifters.....

I had not heard of this Centurion model, the Futura, I saw in a local CL ad that someone at
an antique mall has up for sale asking 275.

Ad says racing model, perhaps similar to an Ironman??? Not sure.

Thought I would add to datbase.

Someone mentioned I ought to post the SN and info for a found Diamondback Expert TG over there. They were made by Centurion? Will post as an edit to this one should it be deemed appropriate.

Centurion and Diamondback were both sold by Western States Import Co. (WSI). In 1990, WSI discontinued using Centurion as a brand name and began marketing all their bikes as Diamondback.

There is also a German company, still operating, called Centurion, that is no relationship. I suspect that Futura model above might be one of theirs. There was also a 3rd unrelated Centurion company that is no longer around, it was also in Europe, but I don't recall which country.
