Bauer bikes
 

Frist of all, I am new here so please forgive any ignorance. Second, I dont know if I have the correct forum.


Finally, I recently came across a Bauer bicycle road bike. It appears to be a cro-moly frame, and has shimano dura-ace brakes. the rest of the bike is fairly stripped. I cannot seem to find any info on bauer bikes what so ever anywhere. does anyone know or heard of these bikes? are they good? seeing the shimano dur-ace brakes led me to believe they would be of some descent quality, but I have no way of varifing that. the bike appear to be a mid-80 to mid 90's model, judging by wear and tear.

its is actually a Bauer B710 model.

Bauer bikes were sold in New Zealand around that time. I've not got much more information though.

I found a New Zealand website for Bauer bikes and emailed the people there about it, they hadnt heard of that model. They thought it might be a german bicycle, as did Sheldon Brown. I am pretty much at a lost here. oh well.

Maybe it's a Steve Bauer, he had a series of bikes badged in the 80's and early 90's

Maybe the hockey equipment company made some bikes like ccm did.

Bauer Cycle Supply, here in Minneapolis, imported a line of of "Bauer" labeled bikes from Taiwan, IRRC in the '80s. The better ones had pretty decent lugged frames w/butted tubing. My son has a frame that was returned because the rear chainstay derailleur cable stop had been brazed on backwards. He's built it up as a sweet single speed.

Unfortunately, I loaned him a pair of SR North Road bars for it, which he mounted upside down. He likes them so much I can't get them back.

I picked up a Bauer recently as a fixie candidate, chainstay protector said 'Handmade in New Zealand'

The one I found was a Bauer 'Momentum 1000', built from Reynolds 500 Cro-Mo, sold by Lifecycle in Brisbane, Oz originally. I'd never seen one before, then after I bought it I saw an identical one watching a crit, and another frame only at Bicycle Revolution.

Specs: Full 300EX groupset, 14 speed, Biopace and 170mm cranks, dual pivot brakes, Sakae steel bars with 'Modolo anatomic bend', 100mm stem, Rigida 13-20 rims, Viscount saddle on fluted post. Rear dropouts were 126mm wide and have threads for adjustment screws, only 20mm long, but another 10mm that wasn't milled out.

well, I am convienced this is the answer. I live in MPLS where I found the frame.

Just got across this Bauer RB with Straight Exage Groupset, Wheelset and Brakeset. Just wanted to know the period or year this bike was made? Its made from New Zealand just like the one i am quoting above. Thank you in advance!
