Threshold of a Dream
Nah, not the moody blues (good LP though!).
Ever since the mid 80's I have lusted after and wanted a pair of campy Delta brakes. Didn't matter if they were Croce or C-Record. I knew they would be perfect on my Dream Nago (that would be a super or mexico). Somehow 20 years have passed and I finally got a pair of well used first Generations Croce Delta brakes. Ok, Everything I've read said they were a bear to adjust, work on etc. spent some time cleaning them while waiting for my 3.5mm allen keys to arrive. Oh boy got here today, these are gonna look great on the Reus which I'm building up a C-record, Croce mixed gruppo. yah they're a bit finicky but nothing too terrible. I really like the adjustable brake blocks for toe in with the lil' itty bitty allen adjusters, not bending here. Tomorrow is the first ride on them, something gentle around the neighborhood. One question tho. In order to adjust them, on arm (shoulder) on the brake (both front and rear) is open a bit, it doesn't sit flush with the rest of the side of the unit. This is the only way I can get them closed enough to firmly contact rim when I squeeze lever. Am I missing something? Is this what is meant by they are a bit che to work on? thanks, Marty |
