Replacing Dead Decals
 

I have a 1979 Falcon I'm restoring. I'm about to send the frame and fork out for bead blasting but before I do, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to restore the classic Falcon decals on the top and down tubes.

and be sure to take a lot of pictures of the decals. After the repainting you can allways look up how they were placed and what they looked like.

I don't think he can print decals with a chrome foil base though. You might have to use a chrome foil sticker/decal beneath the decal to achieve the original effect. Model airplane vinyl sticker sheets might work for this.

My old printer could replicate foil decals, and I assume whoever ends up doing the printing in the future will be able to do it as well.

Your shop is the shop that I always dreamt to have, but I live in a condominium. Congratulations for so nice corner of your house. About stickers I have not idea, but I have the project to desasemble and repaint an old but excelent bike I have. This was the reason to open your question message.

Hope our next house has a garage too. The wife and I are now living in a appartment and we have a garagebox behind the house but it's small, stinky, moisture, dark and doens't appeal to work on bikes.

At least 'the government' allows me to work on my bikes in the living! how kind of her.

No doubt about the nice workshop, but nobody has mentioned the beautiful bike. I love old road bikes - so simple and elegant. Are you planning on repainting it the same color, or something different? Please post pics of the finished project, we'd all love to see and admire it.

About the shop:

Just a little area in the basement I put together. Not too many bike specific repair tools yet. I used to be in the automotive repair business, so most of the tools you see are from my old career and the many hats I wear as a home owner. Thanks for the kind words.

About the Falcon:

She will be repainted the same color or something very close. I might even do a fade effect from front to back. Maybe black starting at the head tube and fading into that orange color. :D

Hi Dante,
I second (third, forth?) the workbench. Usually I can't find the top of mine. Consider using paint stripper followed by brillo pad to clean the frame. I did mine that way and it turned out like new. Your paint looks pretty fair in the pictures - have you considered rubbing compound or polish to see how it turns out.
Mswantak does great decals - highly recommended.
