Just scored a set of Cinelli Hex bars from the 80's (I assume).
The Faggin project needs a pair of oddball bars. These bars have to be uncomfortable, but I don't care, style before comfort, on this bike. Has anyone heard of these things? I did not know that they even existed until last night. |
Never heard of them either, google didn't turn up anything useful in my brief search, pics??

E-bay purchase. When they come in I will post pics.
They are the wackiest bars you have ever seen, the bar is a sharp hexagon in profile that terminates into a 26.4 cylinder at the top. I think maybe Cinelli was thinking they might be stiffer or something. On a long ride without gloves, your hands would go numb for sure. They make no sense at all, but they are the coolest looking bars that I have ever seen! |
I remember them. It was the mid to late eighties I believe. Their claim was that the hexagon shape fit in a closed fist better than a round bar for better grip. I dont recall any claims for added stiffness.

mmm fat tire amber...(old yeller's avatar). I always bring back a case whenever I go down to washington.... love that stuff
sorry for the off topic remark |
Did they come with the end plugs?
I see them on ebay from time to time and they seem to go for more than I think I'd pay for bar end plugs. But then again if you need 'em....... I'm guessing nothing else fits. Nice grab though, I like stuff like that. |
re: end plugs - I'm sure one could make a pair easily enough with a bit of brain storming for materials and the right tools. Though Malcolms does bring up a very good point.
btw: I cheated and went browsing to ebay's ended auctions to find the auction. Very interesting bars indeed. |
