C-Record derailer stop replacement

Got a quick question for you fellows - what's the techinical term for the derailer stop that mounts to the top bolt?

As you can see, the one on this C-Record derailer is cracked, and I have no idea what search words to use to find another.

Take care,

-Kurt

Bump.

Send a question to Tim at www.brandfordbike.com. He will know and may have a replacement part. I had to get one for an old Athena RD and he had the part. He is the formost campy expert in my opinion. It may be called a "keeper" I may have the part in my tool box. Contact me through the message service.

Let us know if you find this part.

When the same part on mine broke I ended buying a complete RD that had been crashed - simplly to get the part. Did a pull down on the old one and swapped the parts.

This is a fairly frequently sought after part.

'the not the crack in the pulley part'

Will let you fellows know. Wonder if the Victory stops are compatible...

Edzo: Haha. The pulley isn't my biggest worry. I figure I can find one easy enough (and I believe the Suntours are compatible?

Is it the upper body bush you are looking for? If you find two, I need one also.

I've been told the Athena derailleur uses the same part, but I cannot independently confirm that.

This must be an early C-Record? Engraved instead of lasered logo, and both the top and bottom of the cages are closed. I have a later one that looks like the fancy washer thingie is not needed...ditto with the Athena that I have.

Sorry the site is www.branfordbike.com. Tim has a link to www.campyonly.com where you might be able to post a message asking other riders if they have a part or an old RD. Sorry for the mixup.

Yes, it's a 1985 first-generation C-Record rear mech. Second one I've had.

First one was an incomplete NOS deal that I bought for $50 at the LBS - it ended up selling on Fleabay for $305. Couldn't complain at that, the extra money kept the Raleighs running for a few more weeks.

This is it, some of you may recognize it:

My current, second C-Record one is probably on the very other end of the condition scale, having been nicked, scraped, scratched, and even monogramed with a scraggling "TG" upside down on the parallelogram. See pic.

Tim wrote back this morning. No dice, he doesn't have the part, and Campy ain't sending more.

Take care,

That looks like a part that you could home brew from a crank washer, with a hacksaw, a file, and a lot of patience. The tricky part would be the bent lip...crank washers are hardened and don't like to bend. Maybe the nuts and bolts aisle at home depot for a washer like a crank washer, only more malleable. A fabrication place could make it for you, but they'd charge a lot, so you'd have to buy 50 or 100 to make that worth your while.

Looking through my meager catalogs I see the same approach was used later, after they dropped the "C" from Record. Except that the end piece is cast and becomes the end of the pivot spring box. That would be a harder piece to get, I think. Kind of like that little stupid square piece with the teeth on one end that serves the same purpose on later Campy Derailleurs, and is just as often lost (I have two that are only good for parts because this little crappy piece is gone.)
