Serial Number Help
 

Greetings, I am hopeful that someone might direct me to a Schwinn Paramount serial number system. I am looking for my old Paramount Track Bike that went missig in the early eighties.... I purchased this track frame from Bob Zumwalt Jr. at the family store in San Diego... serial number A77. In addition, I would like to date my road Paramount (currently under restoration) serial number C21. I would appreciate the help. This is a great place.... I look forward to posting some photos, etc

It was with great pleasure that I purused the Waterford Site.... great. As a bicycle fanatic I had always dreamed of riding a Paramount. In 1971 I noticed a beat up old ten speed in an alley, in Mission Beach, CA. I had walked by this little beach bungalow on a regular basis for 10 years. Painted with mustard house paint, corroded and rusted, there it was... I found the owner. He complained of the constant flat tires and inconsistant reliability on the beach. I hastely informed him of the solution to his problems. I found an old Olmo, painted it forest green, laced up "clincher" wheels, transfered some parts (Magistroni Senior Cranks, Lyotard platform pedals, Ambrosia stem and bars, campy hubs, etc.) and left with the bar frame... serial number C21. I have recently restored my track bike and am startying to ride again. My Paramount is being professionally painted and will soon be lovingly rebuilt.... Thank you for helping me get started on my return to a life long passion....

My 1966 Paramount (Radiant Coppertone) recently came back from a painter. I'm drolling to re-build it. All the Campy bits are polished and ready, but I have to wait. The fellow who will pinstripe the frame and fork is in Florida for the winter and won't be back in New England until late May. Hopefully by the end of June it will be back on the road for the best riding weather of the year here in NH, July-September.

Good luck with your rebuild and keep us posted. There are many of us on C&V BF who own, appreciate, or hope to acquire vintage Paramounts. If you have any questions put "Paramount" in the thread title and you will enjoy many excited responses. BTW, we always want to see pictures. What year is your Paramout? Late 50s early 60s?

Welcome to the boards! Are you still a San Diegan? I pretty regularly cruise the bay and boardwalk on my 72 Paramount as well as a couple of other oldies. I remember the Zumwalt shop in North Park. I don't think I was ever in there, but drove by many a time. I bought a well used Univega mountain bike from a neighbor, the bike that got me back into riding (as well as deciding that I didn't like mountain bikes). It had a Zumwalt's sticker on it.
