Light rust

Hello. Can anyone suggest the best way to remove a little bit rust that I have on the rear triangle of a Raleigh Technium that I just aquired? The rear triangle is chromo on these models with an aluminum main frame. If the rust has started to pit, what is the best way to remove the rust and fill in the pits? Thanks.

I rub the rust spot with steel wool. If that doesn't make any progress, I switch to sandpaper. I was using 150 grit last time this happened (because that's what I had). Probably 200 or 300 grit would be about right. Anyway, if it's just very light surface rust, the steel wool works pretty well.

You'll need to use some touch-up paint to prevent a relapse.
