Peugeot ornament?

So I have been riding this old peugeot around that i converted to a fixie and I have always really liked the ornament on it. In all the other pictures I have seen, the peugeots have a sticker or flat metal ornament. I was wondering why I have this neat one and nobody else does. Any info about the year or model would be interesting.

Is there a clear plastic over the relief?

That is a very nice looking headbadge!

Yes, there is clear plastic over the red parts. You can't tell in this angle but its about 4mm thick.

I've only seen them on lower-end models and on eBay.

Dammit -- if you don't stop posting pics of your UE-8 I'm gonna turn green and keel over.

Which reminds me; I finally got the fenders for mine from Pogue and I need to ask you a couple questions about how yours are mounted. I'll PM you.

I have an identical badge on my 1973 UO8. The main difference between the UE and UO are the UE has fenders and the UE has a tab on the rear stays for a generator. However, I believe the frames are identical except for the generator tab.

MY PX from the same year has a different badge.

The UE also has clasps for the wiring harness on the underside of the downtube and chainstay, and mounting tabs for the rear carrier on the seatstays.
