Freewheels
:( I have some play (wobble) in my freewheel. The axle doesn't move and the freewheel is tight so it must be in the hub.Is this a job that I might be able to do my self or do I have to replace the hub? My LBS will loosen the freewheel for me, but I haven't tried to take a hub apart. Will i need special tools? Thanks for any info from the forum.:o

Not quite sure what you mean, but most freewheels will wobble from side to side to some degree when coasting. It's quite harmless, unless it's bad enough to cause a shift when you start pedaling again. THis only happens when coasting, not pedaling. (This was discussed here a few months ago.)

Thanks OLDYELLR! Found the thread I needed, seems they all wobble to some degree.

Lots of questions lately on freewheels - you'd think that there wouldn't be with all the hubub with cassettes. Wobble is not a given. I've had many freewheels go through my shop on bikes for sale - some wobble, some don't. Could be a manufacturing or quality control issue. So long as it doesn't affect shifting it doesn't matter.
