can anyone help identify this frame?

I think by what ive seen that its a 83-84 cro-moly out of the Miyata stable, not sure whether it was a univega or something else, i picked it up from an auction site all covered in rust, cleaned up quite nice for the condition it was in, looks like a semi-pro, but it had a mix of componentry, some 3ttt, shimano 600 and even adamas. Tange forks, here are some photos, sorry the bikes a bit dusty any info would be greatly appreciated,

fork crown looks "Miyata" but I can't ID it based on the other details. It came with the hated early Shimano 600 shifters, cause it has those unique bosses. Somebody (like T-Mar) who knows serial numbers can work with yours...yes it could be a Univega as well.

I have a univega super strada and thought yours was close but think univega for those years didnt have a housing guide on chain stay and I didnt notice diamond on upper head lug. the shift cable guides on bb shell looks univega and miyata. fork is wrong for univ. not sure for straight miyata. Im still trying to get info on my bike so I hop Im not giving you bum dope.

It's not a Miyata or Univega, based on the serial number format. The serial number indicates a Mikki or Merida manufactured frame. Both companies used that format and manufactured numerous brands including Sekai, Norco, Centurion, Raleigh and numerous others. The serial number also indicates a 1980 model. A Centurion Semi-Pro of the is era is a possibility, as the braze-on complement is correct and they they have been fully chromed, as they were still using chrome lugs. However, they were also still using a riveted head badge and I don't see any rivet holes in your pics. Not sure about the Raleighs of that period, though many from 1983/1984 were fully chromed. However, the circa 1983/1984 also had raleigh embossing at many points on the frames.

thanks for your reply T-Mar, this is getting very interesting, so if it is a Mikki or Merida, is it still going to be chromoly or did they use other tubing?

Almost certainly CrMo and most likely Tange, in which case it should use a 26.8mm seat post. If not, you can remove the fork and there may be a tubing manufacturer's logo on the steering tube along with another date stamp.
