I'm having trouble getting this to post. Let's see if this works:
I have an OMAS headset on my Colnago Super, and I know I wasn't supposed to do this, but my friend and I covered it in a rag and used an adjustable pliers on the headset... Now it's marked up pretty bad, and I'm wondering what exactly an OMAS headset is that I wrecked. Asf ar as I can tell, it's imitation Campy. Is there any way I can get a replacement top thing? The other parts of the headset are immaculate, and so was the top until we screwed that up. =/ Just curious how much damage we did. Man I feel bad about marring up such a nice looking headset. Seems it's rare, too, cause I can't find much info on it. |
You will have a hard time getting another. People here have said OMAs was an upgrade at the time to Campy. I just got a bike recently with the OMAS headset. since there isn't any text on the flat sides, can you polish it back into looking good?
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...3&d=1150156828 PS, get some proper tools. |
I don't think polishing will fix it. Take a look for yourself: http://kyledr.mine.nu/colnago/headset/

Damn that is jacked up.
http://cgi.ebay.com/OMAS-alloy-heads...temZ7162673980 At that price and other OMAS parts, I should part my bike out. OMAS cranks, Galli parts, geez |

Although, even with the proper headset tools, and the use of a rag in between, I managed to gouge alloy lockrings. Not as bad as this though! The alloy is just very soft, and many people used a steel lockring instead. |
