bianchi, which model?
 

i recently acquired an older bianchi. it had been painted orange but underneath you could see the celeste paint. the person who gave it to me used to race and then used it for training. he told me he bought it used in 1984 but it was like new. he can't remember the model and i am trying to restore it. i have had the paint removed but one of the weird things is i can't find a SN anywhere on the bike. the bike has a "B' in a circle at the top of the seat stays and the word 'BIANCHI' on the top of the fork crown. the drop outs front and rear are 'GIPIEMME'. when i took the bottom bracket out it was 'OFMEGA' and italian thread. it had 'MODOLO SPEEDY' brakes (black) he said where on it when he got it. every thing else was is 'CAMPY RECORD'.
the seat post, stem and bars are all 'TTT' not panto'd. he also told me he had a head badge from it but i have thought the bikes from that era , late 70's to mid 80's had head badge decals, this one is rivited but i couldn't see any holes in the head tube. he did say that it was stolen from him once, recovered with damage and he had the top tube replaced. i'm guessing here but think more than the top tube might have been replaced, like the head tube and head lug which might have had the SN on the front of it like i have seen on other bianchi's of that era. any help to identify the model would be helpful. BTW offlist t-mar has provided me with some info i am hoping that i can get some more from the list and narrow it down.

Maybe you are lucky you have no serial number. I have a mid nineties Reparto Corse frame built out of Columbus TSX and I have yet to find a serial number.

First, check the top of the rear derailleur for a date code. (Mine reads "PAT 80.")

My Bianchi's (see signature) serial number is stamped around the seat lug. I have a "B" on each side of the fork crown, and another at the top of each seat stay. Mine came with silver (not black) Ofmega Speedy brakes and Ofmega cranks and bottom bracket, but a Campagnolo seat post. My stem, made by TTT, is stamped "Bianchi" on each side. My head "badge" is a decal.

sounds like and 80s campione del mundo (or was Campione d'Italia?).
anyhow that was the bike was all italian but not all top drawer components.
I always thought it was the best bang for the buck italian bike going.
