How to convert Huret dropout?
I bought a 1973 Raleigh Competition today. It has a Huret Jubilee rear derailleur mounted on a Huret dropout. The dropout has the stop positioned well forward of a standard dropout. I want to replace the Jubilee with an older Suntour derailleur. How can I create a proper stop on the dropout? I guess I could use an extra-long adjusting screw and bend it slightly to contact the stop, or maybe there is some kind of washer available. How do people deal with this?

I've never done it, but this issue and at least one fix has come up on the CR list.
Check out what one guy did: http://search.bikelist.org/?SearchSt...uret%20dropout You might also search the archives there, and here too, for other opinions and fix advice. |
Thanks for the pointer, unworthy1. I never knew of bikelist.org. I think I'll use the backward extended-screw method.
