Currently thinking of buying a vintage OLMO for 250$ CAN. Anybody can shed light on this model and if its worth it???

Here are some pics.

thanks!

Check eBay? OLMOs appear from time to time, that price seems pretty reasonable for a complete bike. Any chance of rust on this frame? Is it a 6-speed? How is the drivetrain working?

Actually, some parts of the drivetrain have been replaced, but I will use this for a single speed conversion. I would mainly like to know if the frame is good quality steel (i.e. columbus) and what year does it look like.

The other thing is that its the first time I see a metal headbadge on an Olmo and was wondering what kind of model it was, etc.

im the seller :)

Nisi Montcalieri tubulars with new tires is the main selling feature.

The drivetrain is in fine condition but its not original. Its 80s midlevel Suntour rd, fd and Sugino crank. The wheels spin well, and the (regina) freewheel has very little wear, but is a bit loud. There is some minor frame rust.

Ha! thats pretty cool! Do you have more info about the frame (tubing, etc.)?

As I mentioned in email, I dunno. There are no tubing stickers. It feels light.

this page romanticises Olmo's reputation with columbus tubing. http://www.mikesbike.com/pages/olmo1old.html
