Saw A Sweet Trek '620 Series' bike... yummy
I was driving last night (okay, I have been under the weather and needed a break) and I passed this rider on one of the Madison Bike lanes
Traffic was lousy slow, so I got multiple chances to slow down and gander at his ride
It appeared to be marked "Series 620" just behind the head tube
Color was (if my memory serves) was two tone maroon and tan?
Set up with racks and a pannier, looked like he was a mid-aged commuter
Just a lovely looking ride.
I would love one of these old birds

I found a trek 614 from 1982 . Great bike but with a 32 inch inseam I have to tip toe on the top tube. New back rim , new tires , fork and front rim tuned at the lbs, and now it dosent fit.

Waaaay back in the fall of 1985, at the start of my jr year of college, I walked into the bike shop. There, in the back row, tucked in among a bunch of garishly painted yet to my eyes anonymous racing bikes was The Bike. I looked at it, moved it out from the others. Marty said "take it for a ride." I took it for a ride. I brought it back.
Marty said, "I'll make you a heckuva deal on that bike; it's a leftover." A 1984.
Full 531. cantilevers. long chainstays. Long fork. braze ons for bottles, pump, extra eyelets, racks...
I'd sold my car earlier that year. I sold my faithful Nishiki later that month. I brought home the 620.
It was a very good bike, although in retrospect, I'm not sure it was that much better than the Nishiki Royale it replaced. I'm lucky to have had two very good bikes.

I ride an updated TX 500 frame from 1977. Kinda of a mint Green color. I Put some nitto moustache bars, nitto technomic stem, cane creek levers(gum) Shimano long reach dual pivot brakes, b-17 champion special, sks silver & black fenders, Jaand expedition rack, replaced the biospace triple chain rings and schwalbe marthons. I kept the Suntour Derailuers, 6 speed Suntour freewheel and I ride the bike to work 3-4 times per week 33 miles round trip. I have to carry all of my clothes and stuff with me and the bike handles very well under the full load. I really enjoy the comfort and handling of the bike. I get asked questions at least once(it seems)a week where I got the bike by other riders. One guy riding a carbon fiber Obrea(?) asked if I would sell it.:

The '82 and '83 72X series are unquestionably my favorites. Never cared for the '84-85 paint schemes.
