Witcomb

Hello,

I just inhereted a Witcomb frame.
I readd that some were manufacture in the EAST Coast instead of England.

How can I tell where it was manufactured?

I would also like to know what components were most common on these?

Sometime I would like to put it together.

Thank you,

Mr. Dawes

A small quote from eRitchie's blog (that what Richard Sachs goes by on the interweb):
Witcomb U.S.A. was formed in 1971. It was a subsidiary of a succesful
outdoor-sports equipment Rep group named Sports East, Inc. The owner was
Ed Allen. He and his staff repped for Gerry, Trak (skis), Allen-A, Kelty, etc.
There's lots more info if you try here:

Wow,

Some excellent information has been provided to me.

I did not find even half of this when I searched for Witcomb.

Have just emailed Witcomb in the UK and will probably email Mr. Sachs as well.

Most appreciated,

Mr. Dawes

I really would like to thank everyone again for all the extreamly helpful replies.

I really appreciate it.

Have corrresponding with Richard Sachs.
He has been most helpful.
He might have even built my frame himself.

He thinks I have an early seventies frame.

Can anyone please tell me which Campy. parts were from tht era?

Most appreciated,

Mr. Dawes

Campagnolo catalog 16 came out in 1968/1969, and the supplement catalog 16s was published in 1971.

You can download some of the early catalogs (including 16 and 16s) HERE.

Great Paramont you have.

These are the components I was thinking about for my frame.

Can you tell me the years of the Nuvo Record parts?

I would like to find some Cinelli bars, stem and seat post.

Any ideas as to how I can find out the part numbers of these Cinelli parts that came from that era?

Thank you,

Mr. Dawes

I was very lucky to find the chrome Paramount. I bought it from the original purchaser who was a factory certified Schwinn technician and a real nut about keeping it in what is essentially museum condition.

The Nuovo Record gruppo first appeared in catalog 15 in 1967, and the last time as a gruppo in the 1982 Bicycle Components catalog. Some Nuovo Record components appeared individually in the catalogs as late as the mid eighties.

You can order vintage Cinelli catalogs HERE.
