Where to get Reynolds 531/Columbus SL tubing?
Well, I've decided to give framebuilding a first-time shot by repairing the bent down and top tubes on my '80s Basso. The damage requires that I replace the downtube, toptube and headtube along with the two head lugs.
It's all well and good except for the fact that I can't seem to locate anyone who sells these tubes, other then an occasional seller on eBay selling complete 531 frame kits at what are rather expensive prices.
Can anyone steer me to a good source for what I need? Alternately, if one of the fellows on BF here might have some tubing (and possibly some lugs) on hand, I'd be game to trade.
Take care,
-Kurt

www.bicycleclassics.com has 531 tubesets for $89. They charge an additional $50 for lugs, crown,bb shell, drop outs, decals, and bottom bracket guides. Still far cheaper than the Canadian eBayer who sells the frame kits.

Check with the framebuilders forum. I'll bet they've got a few other places to look.

I'd advise joining the framebuilders discussion list. There you can learn from people up to and including Richards Sachs.
