Heres a few I've sold

KHS Competition. Disappointed by the cheap plastic headbadge

My favorite so far, Centurion Accordo in pretty mint condition

My least favorite, who knew Huffy made a mixte

I have a Motobecane of unknown model and a Cenuturion Le Mans mixte to do yet but they need some major work

Would this be considered a mixte tandem or a double mixte?

I just bought this yesterday on ebay. I don't have it yet, but am planning to fix it up. If you know any info about Lotus, I'm interested. I can't find much of anything online.

Please make recommendations for upgrading and keeping it classic. I'm pretty new at this and clueless but loving it. (Maybe I should start my own thread for suggestions)

Hi TrekSandra, welcome to the other forum . That's a beauty, all right.

You may indeed want to post a separate thread for your Lotus. That way, anyone else coming along with one can find your thread more readily.

I was finally able to take some pics of my wife's new purple mixte:

The frame is a 21" mid-80s Raleigh Marathon powder coated purple with matching purple chainguard. It's set up as a 6-speed with stem shifter, Albatross bars, Araya 700c rims, Panaracer Pasela TG 700 x 32 tires, Planet Bike fenders, ESGE kickstand, and Wald front basket. Lots more pics here: https://picasaweb.google.com/lerner.n/TaniaSRaleighMixte

A great subject for a thread. I've become fascinated with the style after buying one for myselff a few months back. Here are a few interesting images I've come across.

A long used French Mixte still at work daily in Hanoi, Vietnam:

Transporting schoolchildren in rural Cambodia:

A classic "curly stay" Hetchins in Mixte form, built in 1999:

Awarded "Best City Bike" at North American Hand Made Bike Show, 2006:

Recently built custom J.P.Weigle Mixte very much in the French style and with many subtle Rene Herse touches:

And finally my own Mixte... A circa 1985 Peugeot P18. --- The fenders, rack, bottle & cage were added. Saddle was replaced with this Brooks, the original drop handlebar & brake levers with safety extensions were replaced with this chromed steel moustache bar (only 43 cm wide) and old Balilla drop bar levers.

The Weinmann center-pull calipers, Shimano front and rear derailleurs and stem shifters, Maillard Helicomatic wheelset, Nervar alloy crankset with chainguard, and the pearl white paint & decals are all original, and in near mint condition.

More details about my bike and additional detailed photos may be seen HERE.

Hey Everybody! Some really nice mixtes here in my Happy Place. I picked up this one a while back and now it's up for offer on CL in my area.

Enjoy!

Any chance of a drive-side profile picture? I'd love to see it......

That pretty, speckled, lavender bar tape was perfect. I'm not surprised it sold quickly.

Someone was cleaning out their stash and gave me that tape about a year ago. I tossed in the drawer, and thought I'd never be able to get rid of it.

Then this little fella shows up on my doorstep.

All of these terrific bikes; I love the lines of a mixte.

I need to pick a color for my wife's mixte that I just refurbished. It is a triple butted 54cm Miyata now with Velocity wheels, 8 speed Shimano with flat bar integrated brake/shifters (I know I don't like them either), a compact crank, a Brooks 67S and of course a brass bell. The paint and decals are pretty scraped from chains and parking meters so it will come apart for powder coat this winter.

I also have a Bridgestone Carmel mixte in a blue metalic mist that is mint but much heavier and a dark Blue Peugeot Iseran Mixte that still has the little nubs on the original tires. They were both too nice not to bring home.

I'll take some pictures this weekend to post.
