.
My wife has a beautiful bright orange Gitane Mixte from the
early '70s which she got new as a gift and has never ridden.
It weighs about the same as my C&V 1985 Ford Ltd. but is a
lot harder to steer. Maybe if I took the matching fenders and
racks off it, I could get it down to the weight of my wife's
Mini Cooper. Then maybe she would ride it (and I could drive
her Mini). :-)

Here's a 1975 (?) Super Course MKII mixte that I just finished as a 5spd city bike. Pics are not great. A mechanic friend of mine gave the fenders and they matched this frame pretty well.

This is for sale on ebay UK. I'm sorely tempted but it would be a hassle to go get it. It's a 59 cm frame but whether from c-to-c or c-to-t it doesn't say.

^^^^^^^^^^ That is a fine looking Mixte... Unless it is a trick of the camera angle; it looks like it has a fairly long seat tube… it could be a 23 inch as the ad says. Either way it looks like a real nice Mixte; if you like Mixtes… which I must admit I do…

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
This nearly mint 1986 Kuwahara showed up on our shop's doorstep the other day and just about as soon as I was done tuning it up it found a new home with my little sister... it was nearly love at first sight.
It has a Tange 9000 double butted frame, Suntour 7 groupo, and is very lightweight which is what one would expect from a builder like Kuwahara.

I didn't even know that these frames are called Mixtes. Anyway I had a Centurion Accordo which I absolutely loved (hence the name)
. I got the bike for 30 bucks and worked on it until it became ridable. I rode with it just about everywhere and never fails to catch the attention of cyclists and peds alike especially in Williamsburg. Sadly it was stolen and I have a hard time looking for a new bike. I guess once you become a Mixte lover, you never forget
. This is my one and only photo of the bike. I should have taken more...

Thanx for the great photos everyone. I'm planning a new mixte for my significant other. As some of you may know, a few bike companies are threatening to produce a mixte frame built around 700c wheels. Great for me, I have tons of spare parts including 700 wheels and normal brake calipers. My lady and I will be approaching our golden years fairly soon, hence the mixte for her.
Here's what I'd like to build:
new mixte frame, 700c wheels, mtn. bike riser bars, 8 speed cassette (12-28), girlie Terry saddle (pink?) Shimano long cage Deore LX rear derailleur, 8 Speed Grip-shift and a Sugino single ring crankset using a 44 tooth chainring.
Pretty easy and straight forward. Here's my only problem. Will I have any problems with the chain jumping off the front chainring using an 8 speed cassette and a single chainring?
I'm assuming the bottom bracket (cartridge type) will be either a 107 or a 110, I suppose I won't know that part until I have an actual chain.
If any of you can help or provide some words of encouragement it would be much appreciated. Thank you all again for the motivating photos.

I bought two mixtes earlier this week, a late '80s Giant Quasar (6 speed) and a mid 70's? Nishiki Olympic. Both are 19 inch frames. I have already sold the Giant. The Nishiki will take a little work, then it will head to Craigs List.
I also picked up a Raleigh Record, mid/early 70s? earlier this year. I flipped it as well.

To Thommy who is looking for a modern mixte:
My wifes small 2000 Giant Cypress is very close to a mixte in design. Plus it has a decent aluminum frame and 700cm wheels.
Picked this one up at Salvation Army early this year. I don't have any pictures in hand of it, but this one from Bikepedia looks just like it.

Suteki Track 10 Mixte I cleaned and tuned for my daughter. 600 and Tourney components, aluminum wheels, rack, and pedals. I put new cables and brakes, replacement Shimano shifters, and a Brooks CR3 saddle on it.

New Old Motobecane
Yeah so my Accordo was stolen and I looked for another bike and lo and behold I found me this Motobecane Mixte. I don't know what model it is or what year. It's at the bike shop right now because for some reason the seat post doesn't fit (like the Accordo also). Anyway, as soon as I get it, I'll post some pictures here and maybe you can help me identify it. It's purple with drops and only says Motobecane made in france on the side....

Newly acquired Motobecane
if there is anyone out there who can help me with this bike:

The water bottle cage is not a part of the bike. I just had it put there....
Its purple and there is something on the top of the seat tube that says 2040 (i don't know what that means)
Here's some more:

I’ve finally gotten around to posting another picture of my Fuji Mixte… I don’t know that I would ever call it “Pretty”, or “Beautiful”, but I like it really well. I’ve tried to set it up somewhere between a Utility Bike, and a Touring Bike, and for me it seems to be very comfortable to ride… I’ve still got a lot of work to do to it, but compared to where it was when I bought it for $30, it’s came a long way already…
