Hi there,
I'm new to the forum, and thought I'd share my new/old Puch mixte, bought for v. cheap off Gumtree and just done up a wee bit so my mum can ride it when she's here. I love it so much, though, that it might just get ridden by ME quite a bit. I have really loved looking at everyone's mixtes on this thread - they are elegant bikes!
As bought, except for new Kool Stop brake pads
Done up with new handlebars, old brake levers off my Raleigh 20, my Brooks saddle off my commuter bike, and handmade grips by me.
The grips - not perfectly happy with these just yet, but they'll do for now. I used strips of leather that I stamped with my name, and finished with twine. I'm a bookbinder, so I'm lucky that I have scraps of leather an access to a stamping machine!
The wine crate off my Raleigh looks awful good on this bike...

My Japanese Raleigh Mixte (Super Competition model?) was set up with the center pull facing down. Most of the pictures on this thread seem to have the brake facing up. What's the consensus?

Job just finished
Here is my wife's 1980 ( I think I could be a year off) Fuji S12-S. Purchased new and in suspended animation for the last 25 years. We decided to get back into biking for fun and exercise. I spent the last two weeks cleaning and polishing it along with disassembling, cleaning, lubing, and adjusting every bearing in it. It stands ready for its test ride.

I've also put new alloy wheels on the bike, and am now looking for a replacement for the crappy/bent Simplex RD. I'm thinking a Suntour Vx. I'm having great fun eBaying/sourcing parts.
Geez this C&V thing could get addictive.

Just finished this one for a flip. Univega Nuevo Sport Mixte. Covered in overspray but otherwise in decent shape when I picked it up. My first Mixte!

Peugeot Mixte-1970s
I have enjoyed seeing the bikes posted here and getting ideas for my own re-build. Here's my Peugeot mixte from the early 1970s. Everything works well together except for the rear derailleur, which needs a proper indented frame hanger so that it can change to up the largest cog. Does anyone know of an inexpensive source for a Simplex rear derailleur hanger?

I suppose you shouldn't laugh about Mixte bikes all too much. Take a look at this fellow riding a Peugeot mixte frame in Milan traffic. Props to the first person who recognizes who the rider is. (no he is not a relative of mine!)
