Pictures of My Soma's "I stink at this"
Please let me know what you think of my Soma's. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Sorry about the BIG pictures. Hope you don't get a headache. I stink at this.
If you use IE you can hit F11 for full screen.

The 1980 Soma Sport is all stock but bar tape and tires.
I bought this Soma Sport 10 speed in I think, in 1980. Put 67 miles on it according to my Huret Odometer, which I bought at the same time.
Then put it in the basement. 26 years later, I have just cleaned out all my belongings from my parents home.
You may ask why would anyone buy a new 10 speed put 67 miles on it and promptly abandon it.
Well...... My first real bike was a Schwinn Super Sport.
I use to ride the heck out of this thing for a few years. Then it got stolen right out of our house.
With insurance money I replaced it with a Schwinn La Tour. Another bike I would ride the heck out of for a few more years. Then this one was stolen.
I got insurance money so off again I go out looking for another bike.
Thought this Soma was real nice. I bought it.
Even though I got this new bike, things were changing in my life.
Girls, cars, school, playing guitar in bands. and yes settling down and doing the family thing.
That's the short version.
Anyhow, now I have this Soma again and my Wife and I go riding all the time.

The 1977 Soma Sport is on the right. 1980 on left.
A gentlemen came in to our shop and asked if he could put a flier in our display window.
The flier was a promotion for the Univest Grand Prix 2006 Bike Race that came through our town 09/09/2006.
My wife said sure and by the way my Husband is restoring a 1980 Soma Sport. He said "Hay...
I have a 1980 Soma Sport... Do you want it?" She said sure.
He gave it to us but it turned out to be a 1977.
Same color as the 1980 Dark Metallic Gray!
So here it is. It is bone stock even down to the tires.
Not sure about the brown tape. The thing runs just fine.
It even has chrome chain stays.

Sweet! I it may have been laying fallow lo' these many years, but don't see a single molecule of oxidized metal or paint! Lordy. . .did you store it in a nitrogen atmosphere?
Anyway, enjoy. . .and watch your back out there.

Nice bike in remarkable condition. One of the nicest "new" old bikes I have seen! Enjoy riding it and don't leave it unattended!

I would like to thank everyone for letting me share my pictures with you. I was really looking forward to doing this because I know if anyone would appreciate this kind of stuff it would be the people from "Classic & Vintage". What...... am I going to show my neighbors? My Aunt or Uncle? They would say....... "Oh.... yeah..... a bike.... that's nice.... Now just calm down and act your age!
Thanks for the kudos,

J B,
Very nice condition. Amazing job of storing all these years. I can't believe how shiny those spokes, rims and components are.
Good pics, as well.
I am 6 feet tall. I can straddle the bike flat footed and have an inch between the top tube and my pelvis. For me this is perfect. When I bought the bike I had to be slightly on my toes and had no clearance but I knew I would grow in the next 26 years. I think the bike is a 25" frame. From the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube is 25". The other bike is a 22" frame.
Uh... wow. I'm 5'9", with a shorter inseam, and there's absolutely no way I'd be able to ride a 25" frame, c-to-t. You must have really long legs.
