Identify these brakes!
Hey Everybody,
I won a bid for an old Fuji bike on e-bay. It hasn't arrived yet, but I have photos of the brakes, which look like old BMX brakes to me. Can anybody tell if these are super-long reach (read: difficult or impossible to replace) brakes? I know it's just a photo, but I thought maybe somebody would be able to tell. BTW, those are 27-inch wheels with 1 1/4 inch wide tires. Thanks! -Dustin http://dustindriver.com/cb_1.jpg |
Possibly Dia-Compe copies of Weinmann.

You know what, I just realized that these photos were probably taken with your standard consumer digicam set to wide angle. There's probably a good bit of barrel distortion on that photo, which would make the frame and brakes and anything along the edges look stretched out. So, in short, that's probably a bad pic to judge the reach of the brakes. Here's another clue: It's a late-70s Fuji Cambridge III.
Thanks, -D |
they look a lot like the dia-comps on my nishiki, so i agree with 'the other guy'

I concur with The Other Guy and cc700. I believe I have a pair in the basement that I found on a Sears 3 speed at the town dump. If they are like the Weinmann's on my '66 Collegiate, new shoes and proper adjustment and they will stop you just fine. BTW, lots of clearance for fenders. Good luck.
