A pretty fantastic deal with the live.com coupon. And it's my size! Someone buy this and keep a poor grad student from further bankrupting himself.

Hey Kurt,
Here's how it was explained to me (just a few days ago on C&V):
1) Go to www.live.com - an MSN site.
2)type in "xbox 360" (I think any product search will work--this is simply the example that was used...and it works).
3) At the top of the search results page there will be a link for ebay - 25% off with paypal purchases.
4) Click this link and you will be taken to ebay--a green "Microsoft cashback" icon will now be at the top of your ebay page.
5) The award will be applied for all ebay purchases made using paypal on BIN auctions only, with a max reward of $200. (You will be notified before confirming whether the purchase qualifies for the offer.)
6) the discount is a cashback offer for using live.com. You have to create an account with them in order to receive the rebate, but it appears to be a completely legitimate offer, based on other C&Vers experiences. (Full disclosure: I have yet to use the discount, so I can't confirm its legitimacy.)
Hope this helps.

Here are more detailed photos from the older auction of this bike. (I'm not how to feel about the removal of the "damaging" photos from the current auction, but none of the problems shown seem to be deal breakers.)

I think that MXL was the same one on ebay a week or so ago. It sold for around $600. Maybe a flipper or something wrong with the bike. I've been looking for one and passed on this one. The other seller said it had rust inside the frame.

It's the same seller. Apparently he was dissatisfied with the end price on the first listing, worked it out with the original buyer, and is now offering a BIN. There's definitely enough here to raise some red flags, but still, $750 (after the rebate) for an MXL complete (even if some of it is Veloce) is pretty decent.

well it's 2 hours away from me, if there was really something to it I would go get it. But if I'm not sure, I'm not driving 2 hours to find out.

Centurion Pro Tour '83 23" frame. CL Atlanta.
Ad says '83, but I think it's '84 based on color scheme catalog research recently done for my '83 25" frame that got built up this week while waiting for the weather to warm up again (pix forthcoming...).
I am available to facilitate--check it out, convey to LBS for packing/shipping on a pay it forward basis.
Will pack it personally for two pair of Shimano BR-MC 70 cantilevers. In fact, will do almost anything legal or not for same.

No one cares
I had my first "find" in a while as I've been trying to keep the number of bikes in my garage to a minimum.
it's a 23" 1980 Soma Generation, complete with original owners manual. It was the original owner and it was in great shape. That said I don't think it was an expensive bike to begin with.
I'll post some pics in a bit.

" I had the bike listed as a no reserve a week ago and it sold for 655--an amount that I do not feel comfortable selling the bike for, when so much is riding on the funds tied up in this bike. Luckily for me, the winning buyer understood my situation."
What kind of person puts up a no reserve auction and then renegs? What buyer would actually buy something and ok the seller to back out because he could get more? He must have had a buddy or another login and bid on his own thing when it got near the end in hopes to boost the price. It didn't work. He also has less than 10 positive feedbacks. Bid with extreme caution.

I would NOT trust this guy. He says in his auction description...

Centurion LeMans RS 56 CM in Cary. Has Biopace rings and looks like it's in very good condition.
Too bad I'm broke or I might be all over that.

Schwinn Prelude for $50, in pretty nice shape. The usual migrating grease film and dust mixed with a rusty chain, but it's otherwise spotless. The only damage I could find is a single scrape on the top tube. Yes, right on the model decal. Oh well, I can live with it. It will probably get a 105 conversion with aero levers. It has the original Schwinn Circuit tires, brake shoes, and wrap. Grey suede San Marco in very nice condition, it may be original but I'm not sure. It's so original I may just leave it as is. Opinions?,,,,BD

2. downtube shifter bosses MAY be the 'Shimano proprietary size', not Suntour/Campy standard bosses. I ran into that on an '84/'85 Tempo doing a conversion to six speed 105 shifters. With that pink color, it's probably a later model, though.
And of course, the right sized stem is a must
