the age old question: when you "don't know what make it is", how do you know it's worth $200?

I got mine for $50, granted it's just a 1980, but it was original to the tubes.

Only $100 for a Caliente frame. With the parts he's taking off, you could build a nice bike that still weighs less than the frame he's selling, lol.,,,,BD

A "bikes wanted" ad isn't a bad idea and I wouldn't say that's numbskull material. I did that a while back and got 2 replies. One was a junk kids bike that I picked up for parts and the other was a scrapper who wasn't scrapping steel but said he sees a lot of bikes in the trash "making his rounds." I saved a lot of bikes from the dump that way and paid for my new bike and a bunch of other stuff by fixing and flipping the "garbage" bikes. I also have a huge stockpile of cheap parts and reflectors!

Yes, but as he says "However, everything you see on the picture will be included." I assume it does come with the fence.

If you have an old bike sitting in your garage that you picked up from Sears, Wal-Mart, Acadamy, Gibson's or KMart 20 or 30 years ago, please don't post an ad claiming them to be Classic or Vintage. They are just crummy old bikes. This includes Free Spirit, Huffy, Murray and several other brands.

Numbskull Craigslister Nomination of the day:

Woke up today at 7:30 this morning to meet (at 8:30) some fellow who supposedly had a chrome fork for the '78 Guerciotti. Said it was 700C, chrome, 220mm steer tube, and most likely Italian thread.

Met the guy (10 miles south of the general area of town he said he was in), and found that he had a 700C fork all right - with a jammed (and hammered) steel stem from a Huffy stuck in it - and yes, it was all fitted on a 61cm Cannondale (Italian threading? Hah!) frame that had been crudely spraypainted in black, white, and Day-Glo yellow. Looked like a bike thief's reject on the third try. Sorry thing had a pair of NR/SR crankarms and a Triomphe headset on it.

Did I mention the fork was black too? I questioned this point, as he had sworn the fork was chrome as I requested in my ad. His response?

"It IS a chrome fork - it's CROMOLY!"

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that - but I swore to myself that I'd post that line here if it was the last thing I would ever do.

-Kurt

Fellow is probably bombarded with questions in the vein of: "Does $300 include the rider?"
