Model for the U.S. market from the mid '60s (I think it was introduced in '66), and survived until '68.

Take care,

thanks kurt-since i posted ive checked s/a rear hub date -[61] , and also found vintage postcard for sale [internet]featuring raleigh lancer advertising dated late 50's!-also been told it is raleigh version of shwinn 'corvette', and is a cross between a balloon tired cruiser and an english 3spd roadster-so is neither 'fish nor fowl'-still,it is a good bike in great condition....just would love to know more about its history.!
many thanks and regards

'57 Raleigh Lancer

Just saw one lovely example of the Raleigh Lancer today. Sturmey 3 spd. hub was stamped 'SW' and '57 -2' making it a '57 apparently. The owner, in his late '80's, recalled getting it in the mid 40's and his memory is quite sharp for everything else we talk about. I'm hoping to go take a bunch of photos of this bike soon for the record. it's in lovely shape, decals and all. Same color as the one you're inquiring about.

A friend located this postcard image online of the bike that's a spitting image of the '57 that I saw yesterday. http://www.vintagepostcards.com/mm5/...ry_Code=TRANBI
Lovely isn't it?
