How to maintain a steel frame?

Hi! Posted this in the roadie forum, but i thought it might be more relevant here.

Just built up my first steel ride (using a 12-year old Colnago Master Olympic frame). I was just wondering if anyone's got any maintenance tips specific to steel-framed bikes? (Dealing with paint chips, greasing, etc.).

PS, dunno if this'll be relevant, but i'm from a tropical country; no snow, lots of humidity.

Get some JP Wiegle frame saver to spray into the tubes. If you can't find it then drip motor oil through the frame and rotate the frame around to coat the insides of the tubes. Then let the excess drip out.

Best and most important tip: get you a can of JP Weigle's Framesaver and spray it all up inside of every tube and stay, coat thoroughly. Other sprays can be substituted (Boeshield, LPS#3), but Weigle's is best. Touch up chips BEFORE they rust (nailpolish or Duplicolor enamels) and be sure you grease the seatpost and stem...enjoy your 'Nago!
