Mars Markenrad find

This is also in the folding forum but since it's vintage...

I picked up this vintage (1950s) German folding bike recently but it's too small. I was wondering its value for resale or trade?
Steel 20" wheels, single speed w/coaster brake. Generator, front light, and rear rack. The frame is steel and the fenders and some other parts are aluminum. Chain guard seems stainless and chain is in good shape. Cottered cranks.

Thanks all.

Hi, it's a fun old "Mars Space Brand Bike"...

I'm not sure that those decals and rims are 50's era.....

I'm not sure how many collectors are looking for these but, it's in excellent looking condition and I'd guess $80-120 would be a fair price

How does it ride??

I'm too large for it but I did a quick 50 yards and it does fine. I'd say it'll fit 5' - 5'6". All I've done is scrub it down - a little steel wool and the small amount of rust will be gone. The tires and chain are in fair shape. The front light isn't working with the generator but it might be the bulb. It's not light, I'd guess low 30's.

Dont steel wool it!!!!

Scrub it w/ something more gentle like a soft toothbrush or gentle plastic scrubbie

That looks similar (but not identical) to the Rog Pony that I have. I couldn't find anything on it, except that it was made in Slovinia. It has a three speed SA hub dated 72. I had to strip several layers of paint off it, including one of house paint that had been brushed on. I paid $5 for it at a garage sale.

It's gone now - but the cash I got for selling it will finance some nice elkskin bar wrap and/or some cloth tape and shellac :)
