I bought a couple of those Campy spindles awhile back (for about a third of what that seller is asking, btw), and have found that they're made for fairly wide cups. In other words, the distance between bearing surfaces is pretty narrow.

(Luckly, I discovered that the Italian BB threading on the 800 was still good (fellow who I got it from was under the impression it was stripped). Chased it out, stuffed some Campagnolo BB cups in it, and the problem was solved.)

The BB cups and spindle have to match, i.e.: Wide spindle with thin cups, or narrow spindle with thick cups.
Best thing I can advise is to find out what your BB cups are (if they are in good shape, you should be able to re-use the original Peugeot cups), and find a spindle to match.
If you use the original cups, simply take your spindle out and bring it with you to the LBS, and check the original spindle's bearing width against that of the ones at the LBS, until you find a spindle that will fit, and is wide enough/has enough offset for your crankset (make sure you decide on a crankset before a BB spindle, or you might end up in the deep soup).
Take care,
-Kurt

I already got new Sugino french BB cups so I was wondering if this would work:
https://cgi.ebay.com/Ritchey-Logic-Co...em330048627883
with a shimano ultegra and these BB cups.
Harris say that 113cm is right for a shimano double.
Thanks,
Ladule

Looking good. I'd put a Brooks B17 on it.

Here's the UO18 I just finished with an Ultegra crank, Shimano SIS RD, Tektro dual pivot brakes, 700c alloy wheels and an Ideale Type 6 saddle.

I am going to crown it with a Ideale Special Competition.
Also, a nice Zefal frame pump would complete the picture.

The U08 makes a great commuter/bad-weather bike with a few modern upgrades. I've put an old Ultegra crank on my '72 U08 using the original BB cups with a Series 5 square taper spindle. That plus 700c alloy wheels, Tektro dual pivot brakes, a new stem and flat bar make it a very comfortable ride.
I see you did use the original BB cups with a Series 5 square taper spindle. Thtat's what i'd like to.
Could you please give me some pointers please?
Which length etc etc. should i buy?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Greetings from Holland.

It is not likely that you will get a response from DCK as they have not posted in more than a year and this thread itself is over a decade old without any new posts.

Pull the spindle and measure the "B" dimension per:
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/
At 52, you can use any standard spindle, at 55 you need a 5 series or "thin cup" spindle.
Alternatively, you could pick up a shimano or sugino french thread bb - which would accept a standard spindle, or get a french thread sealed model from velo orange.
I'm presuming you have french threads (tell tale, fixed cup unthreads lefty loosey)
As far as spindle length goes, that depends on the replacement crank.

There are a couple old posts on the subject of UO8 BB conversion.

Probably the best solution today to get a French threaded BB from Velo Orange
