Information needed for my classic bike

I posted this up a while ago under Classic Free Spirit but it disappeared, can somebody tell me why that happened, and where to find the I.D. number on this bike.

Can't tell you anything about the ID stuff, but the thread disappeared because of a server crash, not because of anything you did wrong. We lost about 8 days worth of stuff.

From the paint scheme (and I know absolutely nothing beyond that about this sort of bike), I'd guess that's a 1976 model.

There are three locations on frames where serial numbers are typically found:

1. On one of the rear fork dropouts (usually the left dropout),

2. On the bottom of the bottom bracket shell, or

3. On the front of the head tube near the bottom.
