Anybody else ride a new bike?

I have a lot of 70's and 80's bikes, high end to low end, but I also have an 05 Giant that I love to ride. Do you have a new ride that you put miles on also?

I'm getting a new one in February.

These days, a 2005 bike is my main ride. I've got about 3200 miles on it this year.

I love my old steel, but for long rides the new bike is less fatiguing, more comfortable, and the "hands-on" shifting is just too convenient. Not to mention having all those gears to find a nice sweet spot in for the long flats......

I tried real hard not to - but I really dig the 10 speeds, the STI shifting, and the dual-pivot brakes.

I'm going to sell my cannondale touring bike this spring, granted it's a 1990, not "new", but aluminium and upgraded to brifters. I just think for the money I can get for it and a few of my freebie clunkers I can get something really cool, maybe Italian....

My touring bike is a 2005 Fuji World and I just bought a brand new Raleigh One-way for my winter commuter. Yep, both steel.

My most modern bicycle is not exactly new, but is far from vinatge standards - 2002 Pinarello Prince with 2003 Campagnolo Chorus.

Yeah somebody please define "new" ...according to my wife I get a "new" bike every week My newest bike (by chronological manufactured age) is a 2006 Redline 9.2.5, I need to reduce the gearing on it a bit for my sorry old self then it will get ridden more. My normal bike of choice when at home is my 1973 Raleigh Superbe, on the road it is my 1968 Raleigh Compact RSW. I have at least 5 other bikes to choose from and I have my eye on a 2004? NOS Burley Zydeco for me and my bride. Steel....of course

1992 Marinoni with 2005 Centaur. I used to ride a 2005 downhill MTB though. gave it up, to little time too much money.

2005 Cannondale

I ride a 2005 Cannondale T2000 touring bike and I enjoy the way it rides. The aluminum/steel debate is not an issue for me. I also ride my 83' Centurion Pro Tour and enjoy the way it rides too. I would love to have a Bruce Gordon or Co-Motion someday but until then.....

I've never ridden anything newer than my '93 Trek 930. I've never ridden anything but steel and I've never tried brifters or dual pivot brakes. It's not that I have anything against newer technology, it's just that I haven't had the opportunity to try it.

In that case, you can also add my GT Vnegeance and Giannella, but in the later case, I personally have reservations about a 15 year bicycle being "new". Hang, earlier this year the Cinelli stem on it broke due to fatigue.

My favorite long distance and loaded touring bike is a 2004 Mercian custom... very comfortable and purty!

Everything else was aquired 2nd hand and the oldest is a '69 Clive Stuart.
The first and only one with clipless pedals is the GTX. And none have brifters.

Ive been sorta thinking about getting a newish road bike lately. I've never been much of a fan of new stuff really, but I dont think new road bikes are too bad looking to be honest, well most seem to look like rolling billboards with the brand name all over it in giant letters, but I like the slopping toptube they usually have.. and im curious about the shifting. Can't really get past the price tags though.. and none seem to pop up second hand. Thought I mighta had a chance at newish miele, but turns out its a big older than the ad in the local buy and sell paper may have suggested.

My newest (not to me, but most recent date of manufacture) is a 1991 Bridgestone CB-1. Second newest is a 1978 Raleigh Competition GS. However, my plan is to ride a lot next year and think seriously about selling off about half of the stable and buying something along the lines of a Kogswell P/R.

I don't have anything over 7 speeds in back, internal or otherwise. Newest one is a 05 Schwinn Alloy SS I picked up used. Couldn't pass it up for $125 Single speed, with aspirations of being a multi. Maybe someday. My next newest is a 90's Giant Simple 7. Everything else is 80's and older.,,,,BD
