Tange 900 vs. Reynolds 531
I saw a CL ad for a 21" Lotus Excelle with a 600 grupo. I'm considering offering my 24" trek 614 in trade. The components on the trek are a mishmash of 600 and suntour. It's a sweet ride, but not in fantastic shape. There's a ding in the seatpost and some light surface rust. Shifting on the suntours could be smoother.
Anyone have thoughts?

Sorry, I don't have better ones of my 531 (or the excelle for that matter).

the Trek is the better frame, but obviously components need work and frame needs some love. The Lotus may be in somewhat better condition, but it's not quite in the same league, and much smaller, too.

Personally, I'd stick with the Trek. I think you'll find that the only 600 components on the Lotus are the derailleurs. The crankset definitely isn't and it looks like the large chainring is part of the spider, so it's not interchangeable. Based on the levers, the brakes don't appear to be 600 either.

Hmm...I enjoy riding the trek, but standing at stoplights with the top tube watched into my thigh with one foot on the ground isn't a blast. I should have prefaced the discussion by mentioning that it's too big. Got it from a friend moving away, spent too much money on rims and rubber and am now in a bit too deep on it. Having a decent+ frame (even if I enjoy riding it) is starting to lose its allure when I'm a few inches shy of appreciating.
As always, thanks for comments, friends.
Both would be considered backups/bad weather bikes since my miyata stays inside. Wish I had more room inside.
