what makes the cv forum worthwhile

The expert history of cycles by posters in this forum. If you enjoy history as I do ,this is your nich.
In regards to PTB,s question of my Detel Legend 2000,the bike was thrown in free if I purchased the first bike on Ebay for $10,local pick up only. The Weinemann brakes suck, the Maeda-Suntour 10 speed works great, although I might change the rear freewheel to a Ultra 6.The stem shifters are tall with plastic tab covers on top,and shift easy with your thumbs with your hands on the drop bars. This bike is a very confortable ride, and for its weight 30+,it climbs.
Anyone know why Detel has a heart braised on the underside of the front downtube?Trademark?Health warning of bad brakes?

Probably a locator for a bolt-on cable guide.

or a fancy stop to keep the band on shifters in place (depends on location on the downtube).
