OK - a milestone, of sorts. This is my 2,000th post since find the Bike Forums on 12/04/04, almost exactly 2 years ago. I originally came to Bike Forums after ending a rather long hiatus from cycling, looking for information on my Miyata. I ended up sticking around and made several friends and a few trading partners in the process. While I've wandered around a bit and left my droppings in several of forums, the preponderance of them have been here in Classic & Vintage. So this is where I chose to express my gratitude.
Now, I admit up front that I've taken more than given, and in comparison to the near-incomprehensible storehouse of knowledge here there probably isn't too much of value in my 2,000 posts. So in that light, I wanted to mark this occasion by saying that I've learned a lot from you folks, and am more than better off for the experience. So, in no particular order, a huge and heartfelt "thanks" to mswantak, mhendricks, cuda2k, lotek, sammyboy, luker, scooper, usazorro, T-mar, peripatetic, nlerner, little darwin, pastorbob, top506, cyclotoine, cudak888, CV-6, dirtdrop, ......... and all the rest that escape my recollection at this time. Thanks for putting up with me, and thanks for your unselfish sharing of knowledge, experience, and parts. And if any of you happen to be in the SF Bay Area, drop me a pm and we can at least grab a beer together - on me. John |
I made a post like this in the Road forums on my 1000th post. I think I got like three replies, and comments about how I should've spent more time riding than posting..
But from an occasional C&V poster, I totally agree with you. I can't really say "you're welcome" since I haven't been around too long, but I appreciate the gratitude. And thanks to you too for your 2000th contribution to these boards. My big two is only a few more posts away. |
I suppose this is a really good time to mention the desirability of getting a life?
Hey, being a hypocrite is fun! |
It took you two years to offer me a beer!?

It's been my pleasure to know you and to call you a friend. I'm also eternally grateful for my wife's Centurion Mixte that I traded you for. Oh by the way, when the weather clears and after Christmas, I'm coming up there so we can ride. You still owe me lunch. :o |
Aww, shucks!
Top (although I DO hate the way you SoCal, FLA, and TX guys get to ride 'year round) |
top506 - he may rescind that beer offer if he thinks you're saying he's from SoCal :D That might even be worse than if I were to call you a Kennebunker.
John - glad I could do somethng to help a great guy out - not that you're the only one - far from it. btw - seeing as how I don't drink, I give you permission to give mine to Mike. If I make it out that way, I'd be honored to go for a ride with you - and whoever else out there might care to come along. Cheers, Z |

Apparently I post too much. I'm already well on the north side of 4000 posts and have been here about a year and a half now.
bigbossman, you are quite the asset to these boards and always enjoy following your latest finds from their dirt covered beginnings to their shining results. One of these days I am going to make good on that promise to make it up to the north side of your state for a visit and a ride. But first I need to learn how to climb. ;) |
