Haral fabricated by steelman

Does anyone know anything about Haral bicycles? I just picked up a frame with curved top and seat tubes. Cable routing is inside the top tube. Braze ons for derailers front and back and down tube shiftes. The head set is campagnolo and the bottom bracket cups are Italian also, just bought campy cups for it.the frame fork and headset together are 4lb.It says on the frame down by the bottum bracket fabricated by steelman and there is a triangle shield with it that says BSC. On the seat tube there is a shield shaped sticker that says EXCELL tubing. The paint job is 3 color red to white to blue front to back. the Haral lettering is in yellow with a flag that is red with a white cross, also has a couple black and white rams heads on it.Cant find any cereal numbers. So does anybody know anything about Haral or Steelman or when thay might have been making bikes with curved tubes?

I'm pretty sure that Brent has no affiliation with Haral. I have a friend who has a Haral, so I'll ask him the background on that brand and get back to you.
Very wicked looking frame BTW!:D

I'll see if I can do something with my camera phone. I found some info it looks like these were made for triathelons in the 1980's one at a time for a specific riders size

Steelman is a builder in Montana. Makes excellent frames. Google the name.

When did he move to Montana? I thought he was somewhere in the South Bay area.
Guess I'll have to Google him and see what's up.
Are you sure you're not thinking of Carl Strong? He's (as far as I know) in Bozeman.

why curved tubes

Dr.Deltron 12-21-06 03:23 PM

OK, got the lowdown on Haral. They are French made by two brothers using Excell tubing. Some were road bikes and some were track bikes. They also made some lower end frames that do not have curved tubes. Apparently the Steelman connection has to do with Brent desiring to get the patent or exclusivity to Excell tubing. Unfortunetly the brothers Haral passed that on to someone else. Brent was arguably miffed. And Harals are no longer being made.

Just in case, my friend may be interested in parting company with his. It's all C-Record w/Delta brakes. PM me if you are curious.
