Sachs+SRAM? freewheel question.
 

I'm beginning to get into the Ironman and discovered that it has a Sachs 12-24 7 speed freewheel, which I guess is a pretty good item. I also found a source of SRAM-branded freewheel cogs on-line. Will they fit this Sachs freewheel body? I'd really like a taller top gear to wind this old body up New Englsnd hills.

You sure that the SRAM sprockets are for a FREEWHEEL and not a cassette? If they are, then it's possible they'd fit since SRAM took over some of Sedis/Sachs products...but why not post this to the mechanics forum?

That link shows parts for FREEWHEELS, so that much is clear. It says that they are for freewheel bodies from 1993 onward that use 4 splines...if that matches the Sachs body you have, then you're in business. My Sachs freewheel is busy on my bike right now so I can't tell you how many splines are on it...but that's the kind of thing a *bike mechanic* might know know without looking :)
