My winter build is here, I officially can post here as a owner of a classic and vintage bicycle. I purchased it in early November and it came from Berlin. I have been very patient. I got the vintage bug and decided to go all in - a 1960 Cinelli Model B.

Since there was a "delay" in the Cinelli's arrival and I picked up that adjustable stem, I thought I would also make a vintage fixie. That Legnano I posted earlier went for more than I wanted to spend so I bought this POS Olmo from the late 50s, early 60s?. It arrived shortly after the Cinelli today. It has been a good day:D :D :D

Cinelli = Jaw On Floor. Do I dare ask how much you paid for that gem?

Btw: I say break out the polish and shine up the Olmo best you can as is. It's certainly got some well earned charm to it!

that Cinelli is exquisite , a bike that just about every vintage
enthusiast (myself included) would give an arm and a leg to own.
So, what do you have planned for it? what kind of build do you plan
for it?
I'd put it up against any italian bike at Cirque or VeloRendezvous.
needless to say I'm just a little green with envy.

The price was high, but I could not be more pleased. My neighbor had a early to mid-60s SC when I was a kid 30+ years ago. I always loved that bike, his was blood red but I like the blue and its exactly my size - what more could I ask for?

I have the original wheels, Atom hubs, 4-speed Regina and Weinmann tubulars. I am building a pair of "race" wheels, Campy Gran Sport high flange hubs, Regina 5-speed on Mavic (couldn't find Fiamme or Nisi in a 40/32 drilling). It originally had a Simplex suicide front shifter, the owner sold that separately and went for more than I had (blew it all on the frame) and a Huret TdF rear derailuer (he threw it in with the rims). I am going to "upgrade" the derailluers to Campy Gran Sport. The cranks are 3-prong Magistroni. Universal brakes (no hoods, yet) on Cinelli steel bars and stem. I bought a Campy seatpost and a Brooks (I posted it on another thread). Bar tape and brake housing will be white and I am eying a Silca pump on ebay for the pegs.

The Olmo may get a repaint in the same color, I got access to a car restoration shop. Racelite flip-flop hubs on the same Mavic tubulars, Stronglight 3-prong cranks, Cinelli adjustable stem, Cinelli steel bars will be the components. I still need a seat, post and front brake. Hopefully the cycling Gods won't damn me to hell for mixing Italian, French and English parts.

Hmm, two very different sized frames, which is your correct size? Im digging the Olmo a lot more than the Cinelli, its rough but it looks like a classy one.. not that im anti fixed gear but I'd like to see that built up with gearing!

The geometry on the bikes are different but also very similar. In theory, the seat tube on the Cinelli is "correct" while the top tube on the Olmo is "correct".

I was eyeballing that Olmo when it was on ebay, decided it was too far gone for my limited abilities, would love to see some after pics down the road.

Shipping from Germany took about 6 weeks. Deutshe Post is awful, their automated tracking system does not work and they would not reply to my numerous emails. I was especially paranoid about the Cinelli.

The seller of the Olmo was great. He accidently sent me rims and the winner of the rims my frame. He was VERY generous and quick to correct the mistake. Ebay needs more sellers like him.

Any thoughts on painting the Olmo? I pretty certain it is not one of their high end models, I think it is mid-level at best. I like the idea of keeping things original but on the other hand it looks like it has been abused and it would look great cleaned up. Also, a chroming guy I know owes me a favor.

Black with chrome lugs? Or chrome with black lugs? Or all chrome, with black lug lining? (I know, there's a theme emerging here!)

Nice, but if I paint it I would keep it the same color and chrome. I like to see the color trends of years past. You don't see them anymore.

Well, that pale blue with chromed lugs might look nice. I love the chrome!

That's my crappy lighting. It is a pale greenish grey, something you would see on an early 60s Oldsmobile.

I like that Olmo--I like anything I can't hurt painting---but I do like 50s bikes . your plans sould great---hope to see them in the spring.

I really hate the idea of even bringing this up...but does that Cinelli have damage to the right tine of the fork up near the top? It looks a crease, from here.

Nice bikes! Your Cinelli looks to be a 50's model, did you get a build year from the previous owner?

They are your bikes to enjoy, but I will throw this out there for you to consider, please do not re-finish the Olmo. It is an "old soldier", that earned it's beautiful finish from years of faithful service, if you make it shiny and new it's mojo is nogo. It is no different than any other antique, think about it.
