Between the Paramount and Lisa's Scripture citation (Isaiah 40:31: "But they that wait upon the LORD
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES they shall run [and ride!], and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint"), I figured Pastor Bob would weigh in. :) I like the Susan B. Anthony quotation, as well.

Great-looking bike! It reminds me of the blue-over-chrome Carlton my wife's sister keeps in her basement. (Thanks for the reminder to ask her whether she has considered selling it ... )

I bought a Paramount that was decaless and rode it for years that way and you would be surprised at how many people recognized it. At this point you'll attract the interest of mostly men in their fifties.

I wouldn't be in any rush to change components, add decals or repaint it. Clean it up until it sparkles, it's nearly there already, ride it a year to decide what you really want, then start making changes.

I thought about commenting... but hey that would be too obvious! I've used that verse in so many services I've lost count.

Speaking of Paramounts, have others spotted the two on ebay from the same seller? He's convinced they are late '60s bikes--- but despite corrections posted, the decals, and the serial numbers which he has pictured, he won't accept that they are from the '70s. He even said he had the men's "re-chromed!"

I wouldn't be too quick to replace those shifters. Unless they are a knockoff, they look to be Simplex Retrofriction. Many consider them to be the best friction shifters ever made. "Back in the day" a lot of cyclists "in the know" replaced their Campag. shifters with these.

Nice bike. I love the color. :D

+1 on the shifters. Definitely the ultimate in friction shifting and often an "upgrade" from Campagnolo. You will like the way they shift.

Thats' a great find VeloLisa. The price you paid for the condition it's in is certainly money well spent. Have fun restoring/fixing it up and watch out for those 50 year old men!

You realize that Paramounts can go for $1000 on Ebay? I'm shocked you took adavantage of the seller by not informing that he underpriced the bike. I hope you can come to peace with your actions.:)

 I was waiting for that! Surprisingly, the guy seemed to know what he had and that it was valuable. He pointed out to me what was original and what wasn't. The rear wheel that's on it now isn't the original one but he gave me the original with the Campy hub, admonishing me not to get rid of it and advising me to have the wheel rebuilt as the original hub was valuable. He did seem truly happy to see that it was going to someone who would appreciate it. I could not contain my excitement while I was there.

Although I've never actually prayed for a Paramount, I can only chalk it up to Divine Providence. I was thanking the Lord all the way home!

In other words, some people know what they have and what its valued, but would rather sell it to someone who will appreciate it rather than the higher bidder.

Well in any case it was a good price for a bike in that condition.

I was just making a sarcastic reference to another thread. You made an arms length transaction that appears to benefit both of you. enjoy.

 Hey, I'm all for less-than-Ebay prices for Paramounts! It's been a week since I got mine and my activities since then haven't landed me in jail. I'm looking forward to keeping that streak going. :)
