what do you guys think this bike is worth? What do you think the tubing is? Im in-state and I might go over and have a look for myself before bidding. I plan to strip the frame and build it up as a fixed gear. I have no idea what Stella frames were built out of but all I can go on for the hierarchy of this bike is the components which I guess are low end. In the end however its still the frame that matters most to me.

thanks

stella was my first road bike. I miss that old girl. STELLA. The one I had was pretty low end, french threaded, heavy steel. But there are some nice ones out there. It was a good friend, many drunken bike rides on her. I would recommend it as long as you are french savvy and know how to get around its varoius idiotsyncrancies!!!

That looks pretty bike-boomish to me with stamped dropouts and hi-ten tubing (I'd guess). But I also think it has a lot of charm with those long-point lugs.

I doubt the tubing is anything special. I have one that has Columbus main tubes (with a triangular decal in French) components were Tipo hubs, Nervar alloy crank, NR deraillers, Campagnolo dropouts, Weinmann centerpulls, straight seatpost.

Yes, it looks comparable to an early 1970s Peugeot PA-10, but without the integral derailleur hanger and with Valentino instead of Simplex gear.

dbakl's sounds like the next model up, aimed at the Peugeot PR-10. I'll bet yours came with 128mm BCD 52-45 Nervar Star chainrings.

I used to have a Stella similar to dbakl's that had Durifort tubes. The little tiny word 'DURIFORT' should be stamped on the inside of one of the fork blades. Good tubeset, very nice bike.

If I could use the parts I would remove to make it a fixie I would say its worth a $52 bid plus that $48shipping fee. If I couldn't use those parts, I would pass on it unless I felt really attracted to the frame and was willing to Ebay the Campy parts to make the final price reasonable.

As far as those Campy parts go, you would end up using only the hubs right? Would you keep the tubular wheels or thread the hubs to clinchers? That should also figure large in your cost/benefit calculations.
