Parts and bikes worth anything?

Been mostly lurking in the C&V section for a while now, and I’m wondering if the parts taking up room in my shop and garage are of any value: 27x1 and a quarter alloy rims; 27 x1 and quarter steel rims; 6-speed Shimano rear hubs, 27x1 and three eighths rims; old Shimano high flange hubs, old plastic Shimano downtube shifters, and more stuff I forget now.

I’ve got three steel lugged 59cm frames, all rideable.

One is a gray Rossi, made in Italy, and equipped with full Cambrio Rino, a campy knockoff. This bike was a decent racing bike in its time, and a really nice ride, but other than last winter on rollers, haven’t been on it since I got fixed a couple of years ago.

The other is a Gitane Champion, blue tubes with yellow and black logo, Maillet group, Solida cranks. Sheldon says French steel frames make excellent fixies, and I have to admit that the idea of removing the group and replacing the cranks, BB, and brakes appeals to me; slightly.

But I already have a fixie, a dohno that I stripped bare and had powdercoated in clear, and will probably become my beater if I turn the Gitane into a fixie.

While I'd sell the parts, and might sell the bikes, I don't do eBay; I'd prefer someone who really cares about classic steel. Mostly I'm curious in your idea of value. Thanx.

Partially because we like seeing old bikes, but even more importantly, it's a record for someone else who may be searching for the same thing in the future :) .

And welcome to the [I love this line] infectious world of Classic & Vintage bikes!

Some of those parts are worth something to folks who need them. For instance, I'd buy your 27x1.25 alloy rims if they're in decent shape...and you were local so I could pick up instead of ship. So if you find a buyer through Craigslist who meets all these criteria, you can sell all those parts if the price is right and you just wait it out until someone buys them. You don't happen to live in San Francisco, do you?

Okay purists, I still have the original Gitane parts, except for the yellow cable housing and bar tape, so don’t get mad at me for changing the bars, levers, stem, and saddle to make it a more comfortable ride.

I also have all the original parts for the Rossi except the tape and saddle.

I'l try to get pics of the wheels and stuff.

For your Gitane you might want to post on GitaneUSA.com, too.
