More peugoet help please

I just picked this up at an estate sale for 10 bucks! Ive tried to figure out the year and model..but no luck so far. Can anyone give me some info on this bike and what it might be worth? The shifters are on the drop bars. simplex derailers, stronglight crank. says "Record du Monde" with checkered and rainbow decal. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hope the pic works...

Well, back to the question at hand, this bike looks to be a higher end peugeot, probably a PX-10, due to chrome on front forks and rear stays, nice stronglight crank, painted headlugs, etc. Good stuff. Can you see the remains of a black and green decal, maybe on the downtube above where the the shift levers usually go, or on the seat tube, that says (or maybe said) Reynolds on it? Looking at the pic it looks like there may have been one on the seat tube, but it is pretty much gone.

I do think there was a decal on the seattube...all i can see from it is the end of a D/O? and S so Im guessing it is the end of the REYNOLDS. It is gold and black, i cant see any green. Thanks for your help. There is also the word INOXYDABLE painted on the seattube above that sticker.

Lovely, simply lovely. Plus it has nice looking fenders to boot! (not very keen on racks though)

I guess I should have checked the file size before trying to repost the pic. 28 pixel pictures can only get so big....

Concur. This one is a REAL PX-10, not one of those UO-8s frequently listed on eBay as a PX-10.

I have only seen one other PX-10 with the shifters on the drop-bars. Is that an upgrade? Is that a positive or negative? And also, i saw on classicrendezvous "There are six digits used on bikes from the 50's and 60's and seven digits used on bikes from the 70's"... Mine only has 5 (68630) printed in the frame. is there any significance in this? It definitely has the diagonal Reynolds 531 sticker on the seat-tube and fork. Anymore help you can think of would be great.
Thanks

Very nice.

Now take the rack off ASAP. That's a racing bicycle you have there, not a mule.

I'd yank those fenders off it too, but at least they aren't endangering the frame or paint job.

If It has plain lugs (which it looks like it might... hard to see) it is a '72.
