wide tubulars?
 

Wasn't sure exactly where to ask this, but surely someone here will know ... looking for some 700c/27" tubulars, but I want 28c at the very least, preferably 32c. Don't really want to go with cyclocross tyres although the Vittoria XN EVO would be acceptable. What other choices would I have?

Oh and low price would be nice too ;)

I don't know about price, but Tufo is known for their wide tubulars: http://www.tufonorthamerica.com/tire...hp?seriesid=21. While that's listed as a cylcocross tire, the tread pattern looks pretty roadish to me.

I put those Tufos on my wife's Raleigh mixte. They ride nice and no flats, so far. Jitensha Studio sells Dugast tubulars in 27c, but they're pricey.

She likes the Fuji mixte I built for her so much that she refuses to ride the Raleigh, so I'm planning to reframe it in my size.

Funny you should mention those Challenge Paris-Roubaix tubulars. I bought one because I thought it looked cool on the website. A: It was hell to mount. Granted, I'm not a pro, but I haven't struggled like that with other tubulars. B: It had a slow leak that I couldn't find the source of. C: For some reason the natural rubber part of the side-wall turned a really ugly puke colour that I couldn't wash off after about two rides. Some people seem to like these tires, I wouldn't recommend them.

They are tufo, with a diamond tread intended for snow but should be ok for road, IMHO.

I haven't tried them. I bought some Challenge Grifos from Schwab this winter, but didn't like them.

Those are the same tires as on my wife's Raleigh above, but hers have the tan sidewalls. I got them from another eBay seller for $75 for the pair. I'd buy them again.

Are you sure they're intended for snow? The tread pattern doesn't apear to me to be suitable for that purpose.

Tufo lists those as being for hardpack. I think they would work well for my application but I really would prefer the tan sidewalls.

Devin, how slow was the leak on your tyres? Usually with a latex tube like most high-quality tubulars you will need to top up the pressure every couple days. "it's a feature"

dirt, all I can say is that's what the Ebay guy says! With what looks like a deep diamond, I'd be tempted to try them year-round! Like I said, I haven't tried them.
