Pricing help: 80's Centurion LeMans

I've got a Centurion Super LeMans, year unknown, that is a bit too big for me and is going to be sold in the next week. It has a mix of Suntour and DiaCompe components. Six speed friction downtube shifters work great and are very smooth, brakes with non-aero hoods w/ extender levers work great, has a fresh new 27" tire in rear, but the front wheel is going to be sold without a tube and tire. Tange 900 frame is a very comfortable ride but has plenty of dings and small surface rust, has one bottle cage, new bar tape, probably original Araya rims.

What's a reasonable price you'd pay for the bike? I'm thinking no less than $100, maybe $150. Keep in mind I'm in $an Franci$co where prices are a bit inflated.

Thanks, Al

I bought a nice 1976 super Lemans here in WI last month for $50. Roger

From what I have seen of bay area prices, I say put a front tire and tube on it and ask $180. You aren't likely to get good value if it can't be ridden right away.

If it were my size, where I live, I might consider paying $50 with a tire and tube. ;)

Of course, I bought a full Shimano 600 equipped Ironman Master in great shape for $115. 7 speed indexed downtube shifters, aero brake levers, 700c 32 spoke wheels, with a frame pump. Then I got a free purple bottle cage for it from EastHill.

Are people tired of hearing this every time someone wants pricing estimates on a Centiurion?

Tolfan would probably get the same bike for $17.50 if one shows up in his area.

Tolfan would probably get the same bike for fifty cents and turn around and sell it for $200, AND he would still have that wonderful work of art frame :D .

Little Darwin's right--why not put a front tyre and tube on the bike? It will sell much better that way.

+1 never, we love Centurions here on BF. Quite frankly I do like this bike a lot, but the top tube length is a bit too long for my tastes. Plus I've got a super-ultra-fabulous Japan bike in the works that is going to replace the lemans.

OK, here we go: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/305998172.html I've offered to put a tube and tire on to sweeten the deal at 150 bucks. Even the local Salvation Army charges 125 bucks around here for bikes that are in sorry states of disrepair! It's a bummer prices are too high here, but the weather makes up for it.

bankman,

i should have an extra 27 in. tire and tube if you want to throw it on the bike, that would probably help you sell it. i'm right on ocean beach. let me know.

with a sexy paired spoke front wheel and intron's tire you should get your $180 in SF.

edit: read that that's not the included front wheel. Bad selling kharma.

Make the modest investment to have two fresh tubes and tires on the bike for when it is sold. One will get plenty of return on that reasonable expenditure.

Yeah, I lived in Hayward until a little over 2 years ago, and now I live in a place where we will probably get some snow flurries tonight.

The last 2 or 3 years I was in Hayward I was able to do a New Years day ride... and rode virtually year around, and I didn't ride in the cold or rain... ;)

Two bites so far, one coming by in a few minutes...intron, I'm sending you a PM now about your offer. Thank you!

I'd be surprised if it doesn't sell at $150.
