Simplex SX610T Rear Derailleur - Install

I am having trouble installing one of these. I could get it screwed in, however, it doesn't seem to want to bend around the right way. Can anyone recommend the proper way to do this? Am I being too vague?

With thanks,

There is a little tab that has to catch the front edge of the hanger. You can see it in this picture of my Gitane:

I see---the front of the hanger. Is this a little different than hanging a campy (chorus/record) RD? It seems so. Thanks again.

Is your drop out marked as a Huret? They are somewhat different than other models!

Some Huret hangers have the stop in an odd place, bit it doesn't matter because the Simplex derailer doesn't use the stop on the hanger. Simplex hangers don't have stops.

Actually, my (threaded) hanger is also made by simplex and it resembles the 1980s-90s, notched, hangers you would also see on a trek or bianchi. I'm a little embarrassed. This shouldn't be a tough nut to crack.

I see. The critical difference is that the Simplex 610 derailleur doesn't use the stop on the hanger?
