My Eddy Merckx was owned/raced by Tommy Matush of the 7-Eleven team. I've had it repainted nearly exactly as it was originally, and the parts on it are whatever I could find that I wanted to put on it, as I have no idea what was originally on it. It would have been stupid of me to keep it as it was when I got it, because he'd crashed it and repaired it and 1/3 of the pain on the top tube was missing. It still has its history, and I know what it is. I'll probably get it repainted again within the next 5 to 10 years, as there are flaws in the current paint job that drive me nuts.

Can't wait to hear what you find out on this Olympic bike. |
It sold for $780, pretty cheap IMHO.

Sold for $780. Seems about right for a clean bike with a well-documented history and a few changes along the way. It was, after all, a team-issued bike, even if its Olympics experience was limited to training. There is also a nice story in the son, father, grandfather Olympic link.
