Its a fixie now.

Well, i had a road bike, i road it for two days and got a flat. The rim was tubular, i wanted clincher, i took the rim off and serviced the hub (rear) turns out the cone nuts are shot (all nasty and rugged) and i cant find new cone nuts anywhere. So.... i bought a tack wheel set, and some shoes.

Before (great bike)

Now

If you are interested in the parts... PM, just remember i live in Finland (eu) and that i will not pay shipping.

Personally, I want to get one of those invisible chains.

wethepeople 04-14-07 02:17 PM

Lightest on the market.

Those chains are best used going downhill, They are problematic on the uphills

John E 04-14-07 02:45 PM

At least you didn't saw off the derailleur hanger.

vpiuva 04-14-07 03:09 PM

Did it run better as a geared bike on regular or premium? :D

I like it anyway, even if your legs did grow a few inches. Post it in SS/FG and they will give you some love.

Im just a SS/FG freak, I really like the way they turn out :) Id slap some brakes on it though, never known a fixed gear rider that could stop as good as a guy with brakes!

poopncow 04-14-07 03:21 PM

So sad....

re: Invisible chains working better going downhill
esp without brakes

el twe 04-14-07 03:24 PM

At least get some clips and straps...

Its just extra work, and i if some one wants the frame as a road bike it would be nice to have a derailer hanger there.

Now...In Theaters:

Fixie Rider: Revenge Of The Gears

"I can't change tubulars."
"Make it a fixie."

"I can't service bearings."
"Make it a fixie."

"I can't spell."
"Make it a fixie."

And Coming Soon To A Theater Near You:

Fixie Rider II: The Sequel

"It don't move."
"Put a chain on it."

"I can't stop."
"Put brakes on it."

"My invisible chain got tangled."
"Saw off the derailer hanger."

"I blew a tube."
"Make it a fixie."

Rammer 04-14-07 06:41 PM

Personally, I liked the before picture better. Although, with all the hype of fixed gear bikes on this site, can understand a guy wanting one.

Where's the bar tape? Is going tapeless a fixie thing too? ;)

BTW, if the seatpost is pulled out eight or more inches, maybe you'd be more comfortable with a larger frame?

If one removed the seatpost and saddle from a fixie it would be: 1) lighter weight, 2) less to maintain, and 3) an excellent training tool for peddling out of the saddle. Can't wait for the saddle-less fad to take off... not sure if going chainless will ever catch on.

mastershake916 04-14-07 06:49 PM

Before it was a great bike, and now its...........so-so?

old and new 04-14-07 07:03 PM

I prefer the old way it was.I'd suggest: don't cut anything and keep the old parts,if you can't find nuts in Finland,I'd say it 'll be even harder to sell twenty year old components. Wait 'till (A) you tire of fixies or (B)'till some nuts become available, whichever comes first.

That's right Kurt, tell us how you really feel. Let it out.:D

To each his/her own. But dang, I had a back spasm just looking at the photo of the fixie. I don't have the flexibility any more to ride something like that-

Re: Fixie Rider: Revenge Of The Gears
i didn't find spelling mistakes, i could easily get new bearings, but the CONE NUTS are totally pitted, and no i don't want to mess with tubulars.

Re: Fixie Rider II: The Sequel
I can't get a chain now cause its the week end, all lbs are closed, I'm not sawing it off, and i have a brake (just not in the pics)

pastorbobnlnh 04-15-07 02:14 AM

Fixie Rider III: "Ride Hard Another Day"

mastershake916 04-15-07 03:52 AM

Fixie Rider IV: "Can't stop, Won't stop"

doubleoh2 04-15-07 04:33 AM

i'd slip the original seatpost back on, the black NEW looking one is blotto on the landscape! sweet convert tho, well done!

doubleoh2 04-15-07 04:34 AM

next time don't post in this forum and you wont get so much grief from classic and vintage riders who are afraid of riding fixed...

Bikedued 04-15-07 08:02 AM

Afraid, lol. I love the smell of fixies in the morning. Smells like......hospital food and body filler....;),,,,BD

ilikebikes 04-15-07 08:34 AM

Diff_lock2, Im sure I dont have to tell you that their all just having fun with you :) although we all dont like to ride all types of bikes, Im sure everyone here loves all types of bikes :) well....maybe not everyone ;)

I kind of like it. The frame can always go back. But one thing I've noticed also on these bikes is that the saddle is set so high... what it is the deal? How tall are you? Because that frame is large to begin with. It seems every fixed gear bike is set-up like this... are all fixed gear bike riders 6'5" and taller!
