Which bike, which group...

Ok C&V fans, need some input. I've got 2 frames, and two groups. And I keep changing my mind on which will end up on which.

Frame 1: 58.5cm Gazelle Chamption Mondial which you all have seen plenty of pictures of. :) Currently a mix of 10sp Campagnolo and 8sp Shimano. Brand new Campy threaded headset just installed.

Frame 2: 58cm Serotta Nova - newly repainted a metallic red. Will come back to me with a Camapgnolo S.Record headset installed and nothin else.

Group 1: the Campagnolo 10sp group / Shimano mix that's on the Gazelle. I have a Record crank, Chorus BB and Centuar front derailleur to add to the Italian influnce in the group. But will still be running a 8sp cassette, shimano shifters and rear derailleur at least through the summer and likely most of the fall. Eventually a new wheelset, and the shifters/derailleur combo will complete the group.

Group 2: Campagnolo S.Record group. 7sp freewheel, one set of campy/mavic tubulars and most likely a campy/campy set of clinchers as well.

So, which would you match with which... and why. :)

Super Record on the Serotta.

If your 10s group was complete (& campy) I'd put it on the Serotta, but as is I think I'd put the complete SR group on it, and switch once you do complete the 10s (give you some incentive, too). The new paint deserves a matching group.

Yeah - my thoughts as well.

But what it would finally come down to for me is that I would put the modern mixed-group on the frame I was planning to ride the most. And then upgrade it to full 10sp when time/finances allowed. I just rode 25 miles this weekend on a Campy 10sp equipped bike for the very first time. Very nice, indeed.......

So, I'd pick the best frame from the two, and wring out its' top performance potential with a more modern drivetrain. You have to decide which is the "best" frame....... :D

BTW ,if you're looking for a decent set of inexpensive wheels with a Campy 9/10sp rear hub body, PM me. I have a set left over from my build that I won't be needing.

Thanks for the input, and more is welcome. :) Posted more about this in my blog, and it appears I'm going to have a few more weeks to decide as it's going to be a bit before I get the bike built up.
