What's up with this?

It seems that I have won a lovely Woodrup frame from Hilary Stone. It's item 130108231868.

However, PayPal keeps asking me to 'add a credit card', and will not allow my one and only credit card--already on the account--to be used.

Does anyone know how to get around this, and why it's happening? I am pretty annoyed that I am leaving on holiday in about an hour, and can't pay for my frame. Did I mention that I will be without internet access or even a telephone for almost 10 days? Most frustrating.

If anyone has any ideas, I'll review this thread when I get back. This is NOT a good way to start my holiday :( .

Thanks,

East Hill

Sorry, can't help you on the technical question. However, Hilary Stone has posted on these forums, and he has a link in his profile to send email. Perhaps if you provide your profile ID here, that will be enough of a vote of confidence that he will permit a delay in payment? His ID is, appropriately enough, Hilarystone.

Or maybe just try adding the same credit card and see what happens?

Thanks JYB, I sent Mr. Stone a reply via eBay, letting him know that I was posting a thread about this here.

I've tried several times to add the credit card--I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that the card expired at the end of April, and has had the expiration date changed now--but I keep getting caught in an endless loop.

Arghhh.

I'm off on holiday now!

I think this is what has the system stuck in a loop (hope it's not an ID theft attempt). I would try deleting the card entirely, signing off the website, signing back on, and then adding the card as if it was new. Also make sure you are signing on paypal straight on and not through a link, and see https as the first part of the web address once you sign in with your password.

And clear the cache!

I ran into the same problem when my bank replaced our Visa card with a new one following a compromise of data. After an hour or so of frustration trying to update the existing info, I did as vpiuva has suggested above & was finally able to add the new visa card info to paypal & get on with my life. Hope this works for you & that you have a good vacation. Don

Yes - Delete old info, clear cache, maybe even re-boot computer, then add card with current up-to-date info.

paypal, now an ebay company has other ways to help you...

A bank account transfer is now an echeck, and takes days to clear, 3 to 7 days, the $ is pulled from your account right away, but is not paid until later. Those sharp minds have discovered the "float" as a way to enhance profits.

And they don't like it if your credit card expires, even though you have a bank account linked to your paypal account. At least they do not remind you that your paypal funds get interest paid on them... was like 0.25%

There is no contender to oppose them yet, and it is the easiest way to pay ebay wins.

Even with shipping, not a bad price considering the difficulty you have finding a frame to fit.

Thanks to all who gave me some clues! I deleted the card upon my return to civilisation, and re-submitted the same card.

Mr. Stone got his payment very soon afterwards :D .

Now, what kind of componentry should be on my Woodrup?

Before I forget, thank you to Sammyboy, for pointing me toward this prize.

Unless it's a chrome one, it wouldn't look right.
