Winner! Winner! Winner!
USAZorro has correctly "named" all my bikes!!
Or should I say, has put a frame to a name! :p FREE paintjob was the prize, in case you weren't following the "contest". And here, in no particular order, are the answers. :D There's the Clive, White - Clive Stewart - 1969 The Cannonball, Yellow - Cannondale SM700 - 1986 Gordon the Big Blue Express Locomotive, - Blue BikeE (recumbent) Tigger, Orange - Greenspeed GTT tandem (recumbent) Ernesto, Lavender - Colnago The Hurri, Blue with silver boom - Challenge Hurricane (recumbent) Merlin the Mutt, Black/Silver - Merlin The Ferrari, Red - Greenspeed GTX (recumbent) my "Secret Weapon Bike", Black - TourEasy (recumbent) The color on this one's been a kicker to try to find, and this is just a guess. CORRECT! cuz I'm fat & lazy, so I need all the help I can get! Granite Gargoyle, Marbled Granite - Rock Lobster #13 Physical Graffitti & - red, mauve and others - Schwinn Apple Krate Rainbow - various colors - Rock Lobster Cross bike Thanks for playing! About three weeks ago I picked up a Trek 760 from a local CL posting. It has a Dura Ace hubs and drivetrain, 105 shifters, Campagnolo brakes, Stronglight headset, Cinelli bars and stem and Mavic rims. Set me back $75 American. It definitely could use the paintjob (the finish is the only detraction from this find) whilst I contemplate adapting her to more modern componentry. I have delusions of trying my hand at a novice race this year or next, and there's no way I make those changes to the Bob Jackson. Doesn't hurt that she's made of 531P - making her almost as light as a 753 machine. Dr. D is in the midst of working on my Raleigh Professional, so I'll be the first kid on my block to have two of his exceptional works. :D Hopefully, next year, that number will go up again. ;) Dang, look at the time. I'm going to bed now. Thanks! |
Dang Dr. D! I certainly tried hard enough! I was about to submit my new list this morning. But---
John, how the heck did you figure out Gordon, Secret Weapon and Rainbow? Those three had me stumped like there was no tomorrow. Here's the list I had planned to re-submit this morning: I was still way off and had already used too much sermon time on this. :o The Clive= '69 Clive Stuart, pearl white with neon grafitti The Cannonball=Cannondale MTB, SM700, yellow fading into a rad-pink, with a red sticker? Gordon the Big Blue Express Locomotive= Ice Tandem, recumbent pulling the Burley Trailer? Or--- one of your MTBs pulling one of those kids one wheel attachment bikes (the ones with a rear wheel, seat and bars but no front wheel, with the Burley attached? Tigger=Greenspeed tandem, recombent trike, orange with black tires and blazing yellow seats Ernesto=Oldnago, Colnago road bike, lavender, riden with retro Detto Pietro shoes and a Super Record rear derailleur that has an Ideale saddle that has been broken in for 25 years The Hurri=Challenge Hurricane, recumbent, silver and blue Merlin the Mutt=Merlin Racing Cycles. Original black & chrome with a Campy Rally RD (like the one on my Paramount?) The Ferrari= Greenspeed GTX , recombent trike, orange "Secret Weapon Bike"=Trek SomethingORother, MTB (you painted it and forget what it is actually), or--- the Schwinn World (it seems to me you mention this bike in connection to 27" tires, so thus my uncertainty) Granite Gargoyle=Rock Lobster #13, originally built in '79 but not even a R.L., it was hand lettered as a Paul Sadoff, granite grey? Physical Graffitti= Schwinn Apple Krate, red, custom muscle bike Rainbow=recumbent with a kite with and multi colored streamers, painted with Old School Flake's Micro Prism (best guess) |
Congrationulations to USAZorro and thanks to Dr.Deltron for the fun.
I won't comment on one fourth of the bikes being 'bents. :) |
I saw the rainbow on Dr. D's web site - not mentioned as such, but seeming to have enough colors to qualify. The Secret Weapon and Gordon were the two that stumped me too.
After a couple of wrong tries, I figured Gordon had to be able to carry multiple passengers to be a locomotive, and I saw a post about the BikeE being set up with multiple seats. The color kinda took care of itself. The Secret weapon had to be a relatively new acquisition (since it was no longer the Colnago), and after incorrectly guessing the Crossroads and the AL-1, I thought I'd try the TourEasy, since it was new to Dr. D last fall. It helped that I'd been getting the vibe that Dr. D primarily rides recumbents, and that I was running out of other bikes to guess. The color was a complete guess. I Googled TourEasy and the first picture I saw was black - so I went with it. :o |
Congratulations to USA Zorro! :D
